Discharges into a publicly-owned treatment works from non-compatible sources can have detrimental impacts on the collection system and wastewater treatment plant. Source control professionals are responsible for investigating these incidents, identifying their source, and working with the non-compliant dischargers to mitigate or eliminate these impacts. This session will include several case studies of source identification and investigation efforts, identify potential approaches and tools for identifying these discharges, and provide a forum for participants to discuss their experiences in managing these situations.

After participating in this session, participants will be able to identify potential tools that can be used to investigate episodes of industrial user non-compliance. • After participating in this session, participants will be able to develop and implement documentation and reporting protocols necessary for enforcement actions.

After participating in this session, participants will be able to observe what other agencies use for investigating non-compliance.
