SSO prevention is at the heart of all collection system maintenance programs with cleaning being the primary “preventative” measure. COVID-19 has brought new challenges. Worker safety being essential, most utilities formed work teams, each isolated from one another. These changes are impacting total maintenance capacity, cleaning schedules were challenged and SSO threats heightened. Three case studies illustrate how predictive technology identifies and prioritizes critical and high maintenance areas. Thus, the impact of emergencies like COVID-19 are being overcome safely and effectively.
