Attendees will obtain a fresh perspective on how to evaluate businesses for compliance with stormwater regulations (and possibly other regulatory requirements). Whether you are a new inspector, have been in the field for a few years, or simply want a refresher or slightly new take on how to perform your next inspection, this class is for you! Come prepared to ask questions, engage your peers, and learn how to use a basic, common sense approach to achieving better, longer lasting compliance.

Learning Objectives:
Better identify and determine compliance (or non-compliance) with applicable stormwater regulations.
Identify the combination of Best Management Practices that lead to higher incidences of compliance with stormwater requirements and regulations.
Develop a plan for tackling the hardest examples of non-compliance and equip yourself with the tools necessary to assist those facilities return to compliance.

Alejandro “Alex” Perez is a 15+ year veteran of the stormwater and pretreatment regulatory field. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California at Davis, and worked in the Biotechnology field for 3 years. In 2005, He began his career in the stormwater/wastewater field at Union Sanitary District in Union City, California. He worked there until taking a promotional opportunity at the City of Hayward in 2012 and in 2020, joined Dublin-San Ramon Services District as their Sr. Environmental Compliance Inspector. Alex is a seasoned veteran and subject matter expert of the Environmental Compliance field. He has shared his expertise with his peers in the field as a speaker and presenter at various conferences in and out of state. He has permitted and evaluated industrial facilities such as Dow Chemical, Calpine Corporation, Pepsi and Thermo-Fischer Scientific for compliance with both stormwater and wastewater regulations. Alex lives in Fremont with his Wife of 13 years and has two rambunctious boys aged 8 and 3. When he’s not busy chasing his boys around, Alex enjoys the great outdoors and activities such as playing golf, paddling on a flat river, camping, shooting trap or sporting clays and attending 49ers games.
